The Neumann WS 69 is a windscreen made from open-cell polyurethane foam designed to minimize wind noise and plosive sounds for microphone applications. It effectively attenuates wind noise by 20 dB when exposed to a turbulent air stream traveling at 20 km/h, without causing interfering resonances or affecting the microphone's directional pattern. Some attenuation (3 dB) occurs at 15 kHz in the upper frequency range.
