The hd MLC Cardioid Extension Module is a passive 1-way column loudspeaker designed for demanding mobile and fixed installation applications. Featuring 9x 2" broadband chassis, it functions either as a standalone point source with 100° x 40° coverage or as a cardioid add-on for hd ML/PL-Series main loudspeakers. When configured as a cardioid array, it provides up to 20 dB reverse attenuation, significantly reducing feedback susceptibility in the low-mid range while improving speech intelligibility by preventing sound energy from radiating into unwanted areas. Operating via a separate amplifier channel, the module enhances bass response toward the audience, delivering punchier and more dynamic sound. The aluminum-enclosed unit includes a Speakon NL4 connector, 35 mm flange for tripod mounting, and a mounting rail with knurled screws. With 4 Ω impedance, 225 W RMS power handling, and frequency range of 90 Hz-1.2 kHz (or 90 Hz-20 kHz standalone), this 5 kg module offers versatile deployment options.
