The AT4040 is a large diaphragm side-address condenser microphone featuring externally polarized (DC bias) technology. It delivers smooth, natural sonic characteristics with exceptionally low noise (82 dB signal-to-noise ratio) and wide dynamic range (133 dB). With a frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz and cardioid polar pattern, it handles maximum SPL up to 145 dB (155 dB with 10 dB pad). The transformerless circuitry ensures excellent transient response while minimizing low-frequency distortion. Precision-machined nickel-plated brass baffle enhances stability and sensitivity. It includes a custom shock mount (AT8449a) and protective case, with switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter and 10 dB pad for versatile application in professional recording environments.
